Derome works in close cooperation with forest owners, local offices and purchasers in western Sweden to supply high quality sawlogs to our five sawmills. Our purchase organization is trained in forestry and procures wood from forests close to our sawmills.
Optimum yield of your forest
Deliveries to our sawmills are customised, and each harvest is handled differently, in order to provide an optimum yield. This creates added value for our forest owners and customers alike.
We are constantly working on improvements to our saw lines that will increase timber yield, i.e. generate more planks and boards from each log. These measures provide a good long-term source of income for the forest owners who supply the timber.

Production plants
Derome operates a network of four specialized sawmills and one planing mill strategically located in western Sweden. Each sawmill has its own distinct area of expertise and employs unique processes tailored to its specific operations.
Sawmills with technology at the forefront
The sawmill sector is the most investment-intensive part of Derome's business. We have recently made significant investments aimed at optimizing the operations through reducing lead times in sorting and planing facilities and maximizing the yield per log. By implementing these improvements, we are well-prepared to thrive in the increasingly competitive timber industry and serve as a reliable, long-term supplier of high-quality timber products.
Pressure-treatment facility
Timber products are pressure-treated around the clock at Derome’s facility in the Port of Varberg, Sweden's largest port of export for sawn timber products. We pressure-treat around 175,000 m3 of timber products a year for our own use, as well as for other timber product suppliers on the market. Our geographical location gives us a logistics advantage.

Wide range of products
Under the brand of Derome Timber, we are offering a product range that is unequalled in its breadth and counting approx. 1,300 environmentally and quality-assured items, including FSC and PEFC certified timber.
Products for export
Our product portfolio includes sawn, planed, finger-jointed, pressure-treated and strengthgraded timber. But also wall beams, external panelling boards, painted panelling, tongue and groove boards and hatches, secondary space panelling, timber with end grooving, battens, formwork timber, timber cut to measure, as well as fully customised timber with holes/notches.
Around half of our timber products are exported and UK is our largest export market.
Biofuel
We make use of all parts of the log and convert by-products from our sawmills into biofuel and thermal heat. Whatever does not become boards or planks in our sawmills is turned into biofuel in the form of pellets and briquettes. In this way, we look after the earth's resources and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels such as coal and oil.

Pallets and packaging
In close cooperation with our customers, we design and produce tailormade packaging so that goods can arrive safely at their destinations. Our main products are wooden boxes, pallets and special packaging, particularly suitable for flimsy or heavy goods.
